of frogs and principles…

:: ::  Whoever thought up the “critical thermal maxima” on many species of frogs must never have met Malaysian pollies. The past week has seen the unique Malaysian ‘katak’ utterly turn this syndrome on its head.

In an amazing phenomena, a trio of frogs dramatically scrambled out of the hot polly pot and spectacularly flared up the national political temperature.  In the ensuing turbulence, their hoppy antics are generating hot news flashes, every hour, on the hour. Offline and online, wild rumours swirl in the public sphere.

Debate on the ethics and morality of party hopping is now back on the front burners.

With the Bota frog, there is one minor redeeming factor. His public and ambiguous resignation from one party and admission to another gives us cause to reconsider that perhaps hopping frogs can be just a tad principled, after all.

Meanwhile the two allegedly corrupt Perakian frogs nearly blew the pot up, to throw the state into a political crisis. Creating much hoo-ha and uncertainty with their “now-you-see-me, now-you-don’t” acts, they agitated the slow boil into a rolling one.  Hiding from their constituents and party colleagues, these crooked frogs cooked up a mystery to obscure and muddy their intentions.

Analysts warn of an overflow to another state.

Such dodgy behaviour raises loud questions as to who these frogs represent and serve.
